Netflix launches 5 games on Android
Netflix’s gaming experiment is finally ready for you to play. Netflix announced today that it has launched Netflix Games. The app offers five games to its Android users. These games include 1984: Stranger things Stranger Things 3 Shooting hoops Card BlastPlease see the following: Teeter Up — A selection of unproductive distractions, with a accompanying Stranger ThingsDouble header is the first stage of what Netflix calls a grand plan to offer games through the service.
Netflix posted a blog explaining how it will operate its games section. Netflix will list games in a specific row, category or section, much like other Netflix content. This is part of the basic Netflix subscription and comes with no additional fees, advertising or in-app purchase. Multiple users can play the same game on one account as long as there is no limit to the number of devices. This can allow you to play on up to 4 screens at once, depending upon your subscription level. Netflix notes that while some games will require an Internet connection, “others will be available offline,” and, perhaps curiously, that games are not permitted on kids’ accounts.
Tuesday’s launch is extremely in line with what was made public during its limited test last August, and while the initial lineup seems paltry, the company wants to signal that it’s just getting started and interested in designing games “for any level of play and every kind of player.” Perhaps we’ll see more of what the company means by that when it reveals what it has the newly-acquired Oxenfree developers working on.
There is no word on the date for any additional titles and platforms.
