NHL 24 Gameplay Improvements And October Release Date Revealed
The NHL Development Team at EA Sports tries to replicate the hard-hitting and fast-paced sport of hockey in its games every year. EA Sports is aiming to update NHL 24 with a variety of updates that will make the game feel as authentic as possible to real life hockey.
The Exhaust Engine is the system which dictates performance by stamina and rewards players who attack on offense. This new system, Goalie Fatigue, ensures that the goalie’s performance on the initial shot in a powerplay is not as good as it is for the subsequent shots. The goalie’s fatigue level increases as the play continues. So, if the ball is at the other end for long periods, it gives him a break while his counterpart feels drowning from the pressure. It is more difficult to stop the puck from hitting the back of the net if the defense misses a few opportunities.
The goalie will lose stamina if they are forced to perform tiring tasks like shooting multiple times at the net, spending a long time in their zone or passing across the crease. This is because the goalie’s stamina will show up so that the player can know how bad the situation really is. In order to combat this problem, goalies now have highlight-reel saving animations which help them block more pucks. In player-lock mode, the controls have been updated to be more intuitive. There is also an automatic return to the center to minimize the chance of you being out of place for the next shot.
It also plays into the Sustained Presssion system which rewards the offenses that spend a long time attacking the zone. The sustained pressure meter can be built up by each team in the game based on puck possession, key hit, and shots inside the shot. The defense also has new tools to balance out this, such as a revised checking system that reduces the penalty for shoves, but increases the impact of the opponent’s stamina. Checks into boards and benches in NHL 24 look great, but I’d love to have seen the glass-shattering checks that were promised by the developers.
NHL 24 offers a new control refresh feature that allows you to perform checks with just a flick of your stick. Total Control maps highlights reel moves intuitively and easily. You can also fake, deke, and pass out every move. You don’t have to worry if you’re an old-timer who does not want to adapt. Legacy control schemes are still available. Vision Passing allows you to move the puck quickly around the ice with a simple, one-touch pass.
As for the modes themselves, World of Chel adds a Battle Pass with free and premium levels that includes a new collection of vanity and utility items, as well as a new creation zone that streamlines the user experience. Storefronts allow you to spend your money on gear instead of waiting for loot from boxes. EASHL, on the other hand, offers a 16 game path leading to playoffs, where you earn points for your progress and lose if you fail. Ultimate Team’s HUT moments allows you to recreate historic moments as well as recent ones in hockey. There are multiple ways to play with different objectives and difficulty levels. HUT share allows you to easily share information such as your lineup and season records across social media.
NHL 24 enhances its presentation while you are actually playing the game. This includes more than 75 brand new goal celebrations as well as new camera angles and lighting effects. You can also assign player banners to dynamic rink board where you personalize them. In addition, various actions and events have been added to improve the atmosphere in the stadium. For example, the host team running down the ice during an exciting comeback or the crowd cheering for their team when they make a strong return, as well as calling on the team at home to shoot the ball. Cheryl Pounder who has covered multiple Winter Olympics joins in the broadcast booth.
NHL 24 offers cross-platform multiplayer with World of Chel and EASHL, just like most EA Sports titles. PlayStation 5 players can join Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers are in their respective crossplay divisions. You can join or invite your friends from any platform to play a match. EA Sports claims that the crossplay between World of Chel, HUT and the HUT platform improves matchmaking in order to reduce matchmaking waiting times.
Cale Makar, the Colorado Avalanche’s cover athlete, has also been announced as NHL 24. It is scheduled to be released on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 4 as well as PlayStation 5 for the PlayStation 5. This X-Factor Edition includes an exclusive Cale Makar Player Item, the HUT Icon Choice Pack for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, along with extra NHL points and Dual Entitlement to both last-gen and latest-gen versions. It also gives you three days of access to the game’s final version.
