Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Every solution is the right solution

The game features a number of abilities, including the ability to rewind and pause time. You can also construct improvised weapons or vehicles. Rube Goldberg would be envious. Tears of the Kingdom – The Legend of Zelda Can be overwhelming.

Advice? Embrace the chaos, and enjoy the fact that there’s no wrong way to play this slapstick comedy of a game.

The two-week period prior to the review Tears Of The Kingdom’s release, my co-workers and I spoke constantly about the ways we solved certain puzzles, battled specific bosses, or navigated particular stretches of terrain. While one co-worker fought Water Temple’s boss multiple times with no success, another discovered the Fuse combinations that made it a breeze. Another used Ascend instead of building a rocket barge in order to ascend to the Sky Island.

At first, we worried that we were missing “the” solution, and had somehow sequence-broke, or cheated. The treasure chest was out of my reach and I returned several times to the white-whale Shrine, convinced that I had missed it. You can find out more about this by clicking here. I was taught in great detail by the game about Ultrahand. One day, I said Screw itI opened up the chest and fashioned the worst machine possible.

Is it the solution you intended? Irrelevant. It is irrelevant. Tears Of The Kingdom, “intended” solutions are just one path and, ultimately, the ends justify the means. Recently, I spoke with director Hidemaro Fubayashi and producer Eiji aonuma and both admitted that this was the case. In fact, Ascend, one of the game’s most god-like abilities, began as a developer cheat.

It’s only been a couple of days since the game was released, and players are already loving it. Tears Of The Kingdom’s focus on player freedom. Fuse is used to turn the game into Link Hawk’s Pro Skater. Other people have jumped on Team Long Bridge whenever they could.

To wit: my co-worker Russ Frushtick’s solution to the end of Runakit Shrine:

Here is my answer:

For as many people that have told me they’re adoring Tears Of The Kingdom, almost as many have told me that they’re bouncing off of it because of the dizzying number of possibilities. And that’s perfectly fine: There’s a lot going on here, and Breath Of The Wild is still a very good game, and well worth returning to if you’re not vibing with the sequel.

But if you’re enjoying Tears Of The Kingdom Are you still a little worried, as I was two week ago, that maybe you’re playing the game incorrectly? Take a page out of Fujibayashi’s book, and revel in the glory of a game that admits: “Cheating can be fun.”
