Pokémon Maker Game Freak Developing New Action Adventure IP Codenamed Project Bloom

Private Division has announced a new publishing partnership with Pokémon developer Game Freak. The publisher will release a Game Freak action adventure game that is a completely new IP. 

In a joint press release, Game Freak and Private Division announce that the IP will be launched during Take-Two parent company Private Division’s fiscal year 2026. Game Freak also released a first-ever piece of Project Bloom concept art. Below you can see it: 

Kota Furushima, director of Game Freak writes that they are “excited to be able to create a bold new IP with a different tone and feel from what we have done before.” Private Division has been the publisher that we have wanted to collaborate with since the very beginning. The track record of Private Division and their global expertise give us the confidence we need to develop a new, exciting action adventure game. We can’t be more excited to reveal it in the near future. 

Micahel Worosz, Take-Two Interactive’s chief strategy officer, and head of the Private Division, says that it’s hard to find an independent studio which has produced more classic hits in the last 30 years. “We are ready to help Game Freak unlock their potential, and we’re proud to be the very first Western publisher who will work with this talented team and proven to deliver a new IP on the market.” 

Game Freak was founded in 1989 and is best known for developing the majority of mainline Pokémon entries across various Nintendo consoles. Its most recent Pokémon release was last year’s Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It has, however, released non-Pokémon games throughout its history, including this year’s Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! On iOS devices and macOS. 

Private Division was founded in 2017 as a third publishing label within Take-Two Interactive. Private Division’s notable titles include Hades: The Outer Worlds; Kerbal Space Program 2 Rollerdrome; OlliOlli World and many more.
