343 Industries Says It Will Develop Halo Games ‘Now And In The Future’ Following Layoffs
343 Industries plans to continue developing Halo gaming products after Halo Infinite, contrary to rumors.
Microsoft cut 10,000 jobs last week amid its $69billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The same day, Halo Infinite creative director Joseph Staten, who joined the studio in 2020 to help bring the game across the finish line, revealed that he was departing 343 Industries to rejoin Xbox Publishing. Although some saw it as an end of Halo Infinite or 343 Industries, there is no indication that Halo Infinite will be changing its course after these layoffs.
Rumours circulating that 343 Industries will no longer develop Halo games were based on a report. Other developers would be doing that, and the studio would merely serve as an oversight to the franchise. Pierre Hintze from 343 Industries was quick to dismiss this rumor, posting the following tweets over the weekend.
Halo and Master chief are going to be here for the long-term. 343 Industries will develop Halo in the future and now, with epic stories, multiplayer and all that makes Halo so great.
This is a quick and simple way for Hintze, who stated that both the reports and rumors are false and that 343 Industries will continue developing mainline Halo games. 343 Industries has also developed Halo 4: Guardians and Halo Infinite.
