Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power will premiere with two episodes

Amazon Prime’s new Lord of the Rings series, will launch with two episodes starting Sept. 1, at 9 PM EDT/6 PDT. Following that episode, episodes will be released at the usual one-a week schedule. They drop on Fridays at 12 a.m. Eastern Time/9 p.m. Pacific time on Thursdays. It will have eight episodes and conclude on Oct.

Titled The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the show takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. But that doesn’t mean some familiar characters won’t be popping up — after all, elves live for aReally, really, reallyWizards have been around for a long time and are basically demigods. Already, younger versions of Galadriel (Morfydd) and Elrond are confirmed to be making appearances. The show isn’t based on any particular Tolkien book, but instead his pages and pages of Appendices that explore the history of Middle-earth.
