Scoping Out the Accessibility Features of Sniper Elite 5
Launch of Sniper Elite 5 fast approaching — available on day one with Xbox Game Pass — we want to showcase the accessibility features you can expect to find in the latest instalment of the award-winning series.
It’s important to us that as many people as possible can play our games and so we’ve worked hard to reduce barriers and make Sniper Elite 5It is easier to use. We’re also aware of the importance of publicizing our features so you know if you can play before you buy. These are the new accessibility features. Sniper Elite 5.
Complex Customization
You can make the difficulty as difficult or easy for you to be an Elite.
You’ll have five pre-set difficulty levels to choose from ranging from Civilian (Very Easy) to Authentic. The Civilian difficulty, which is our version of a story mode, has a reduced combat rate, enemy damage and player harm. We hope that this will make the game more accessible to those who are looking for Authentic. Sniper Elite 4It is too difficult. You can also customize combat, sniping and tactical elements of the game to suit your needs.
But difficulty customization doesn’t end there. You can adjust a wide range of elements in our Advanced Difficulty Mode to suit your playing style. From how much information is displayed on the radar to health regeneration and enemy AI behavior, you’ll be able to tailor the game to your capabilities.
Difficulty can also be changed at any time from the pause menu, so there’s no need to restart a mission if you find the challenge too high or low.
Tutorials
Sniper Elite 5Increased tutorial options. There are now enhanced tutorial options. You can access detailed tutorials from the pause menu that will guide you through every mechanic and enemy you encounter. You can also reset tutorials to jump back into the game after a short break.
Text and Subtitles
Sniper Elite 5Subtitles are included with the fully voice-acted movie. Subtitle customization allows you to alter text size, background color and opacity. All subtitles include speaker names too, so you’ll always know who’s talking.
In multiplayer we have a quick chat wheel with common shout outs – each of these are also voice acted and have subtitles displayed on screen.
Sniper Elite 5There are also scaling options available for HUD and text menu elements. The scaling options for UI text are limited to medium and large sizes.
Colorblindness Treatments
It is well-known that the Stealth system was not easy for colorblind people. Sniper Elite 4It relied on color heavily. So, to help fix that we’ve added color adjustments to SE5For enemy detection and marking locations. Now you can choose between four colour palettes: Original and three color blind versions.
Customizable Audio Levels
We’ve separated out some audio channels so you can set them to whatever works best for you. Including individual sliders for hit feedback, dialogue and enemy awareness cues, you’ll be able to balance the sounds most important to you as you play. You can disable or enable voice chat, and you can adjust the volume of chat for multiplayer.
You can also adjust Dynamic Audio Range to reduce loud sounds like explosions. SE5 also uses Spatial audio to locate enemy targets and get you involved in the battle.
Input and controls
Anyone can be a Sniper, and with the huge range of Aim Assist options available you won’t have to worry about pinpoint accuracy if that’s not your thing. You can also customize Aim Assist by state so that you have different settings for shooting from the hip or scoped.
Sniper Elite 5The launch will include full control of remapping the mouse and keyboard. For gamepad users we have 6 pre-sets to choose from – three layouts each with left and right-handed variants. The stick functionality is swapped between these left- and right variants.
SE5 offers standard sensitivity as well as axis Inversion.
Accessibility first
The first time you launch the game you’ll be asked to do the usual set up, but you’ll also get a chance to change the accessibility settings and subtitle display right away before any cut scenes. You can enjoy the game as you like it right away.
We offer support to reduce motion sickness. You can also disable Motion Blur or Binocular Distortion. Everyone loves a killcam, right? But not all kill cams are created equal. You’re free to turn off Kill Cameras or X-Rays whenever you like. So if gore isn’t something you’re keen on, you can play without fear of those incredibly graphic testicle shots!
