Dune’s HBO Max spinoff prequel will not be directed by Denis Villeneuve
Dune director Denis Villeneuve will no longer direct the pilot of the series’ prequel spinoff show. The HBO Max pilot, which is currently being titled “The First Two Episodes”, was broadcast on HBO Max. Dune: Sisterhood, will be directed by Johan Renck, one of the directors behind HBO’s Chernobyl Series starting in 2019. Dune: SisterhoodIn 2023, it will be available for purchase.
Sisterhood will take place 10,000 years before the events depicted in Villeneuve’s Best Picture-nominated 2021 blockbuster. This series will explore the history of the Bene Gesserit – a powerful women’s group that helps shape the world of politics. Dune. The series will center on a small group of Harkonnen Sisters as they form the organization that becomes a mysterious, powerful plot-driver throughout Frank Herbert’s Dune novels.
Renck currently directs a movie called Spaceman, Starring Carey Mulligan, Adam Sandler and Paul Dano. Renck directed all five episodes of HBO’s Chernobyl He was awarded two Emmy Awards in recognition of his contributions to the series. He directed several episodes of the series. Villeneuve had originally planned to pilot the flight, but the director was reportedly forced to make a decision to concentrate on the making of the film. Dune Part 2.
