How To Beat Godrick The Grafted – Elden Ring Boss Guide

Godrick the Grafted, the leader of Stormveil Castle is Elden Ring’s first legacy dungeon. The mandatory boss of Stormveil Castle is a demigod, whose body has been adorned with the extremities of his victims. Godrick, despite being large in stature, is extremely agile and can use his storm-calling skills to fly through the air or whip up huge gusts of wind. In his second phase, Godrick affixes a dragonhead to his arm and spews streams of fire. Godrick is a nasty foe, but the good news is he’s easier to beat than Margit The Fell Omen.

However, if you’re struggling to understand how to beat Godrick The Grafted, this Elden Ring boss guide will highlight a few strategies and the location of an NPC companion you can call to make the fight much more manageable. 

How to Find Nepheli Loux

Depending on the route you take through Stormveil Castle, it’s entirely possible to pass by the most significant boon you’ll have in the boss fight. Nepheli Loux is an axe-wielding warrior you can call upon in the battle against Godrick The Grafted; however, you’ll have to speak to her before her summoning pool appears by the fog gate. 

Head down the steps to Nepheli. You will pass the Troll guards and continue on cobblestone road. Make sure you grab the Golden Seed as you go so that your Flask can hold another charge. You will find Nepheli, standing in front of the Stormveil Knight’s corpse after the road curves. You can speak to Nepheli and exhausted all other dialogue options before you begin the Godrick The Grafted boss battle.

The Key Strategies

Summon your spirits immediately after beginning the battle, as they will negate damage and help to keep Nepheli alive as long as possible – she’s capable of dealing massive amounts of damage. Her role can make all the difference in winning. In this boss fight, you’ll need to be reasonably aggressive, as a passive playstyle will be overwhelmed by Godrick’s speed, range, and AoE damage. You can help the boss by staying close to him while he is focusing on you and your friends. 

Godrick can perform several dangerous storm-calling maneuvers. Back away quickly when he starts swinging his axe in the air, he’s going to create a cyclone around his body and then finish the action with his Storm Stomp ability, which will do a ton of damage if you’re in proximity. After his stomp, he often puts his axe in the ground. Do not be surprised if he does. Two gusts of wind will be hurled at you by him, which will cause you to fall and do a lot of damage. You can be sure to do some damage. Godrick starts rolling around the arena, whether in the air or on the ground, be prepared to dodge his nasty finisher. Similar to Margit The Fell Omen, the wind-up on his aerial ground slam is longer than you might expect, so make sure you don’t dodge the move too early. 

Godrick is now more dangerous in his second phase. Godrick grafts an arm with the head of an older dragon. He can now use his wind-based skills to increase their reach and potency. At this point, I recommend consuming a Fireproof Dried Liver, a crafting recipe unlocked with the Armorer’s Cookbook (1). If you haven’t found this crafting recipe yet, you can find it in a treasure chest in the soldier camp north of Murkwater Cave. After equipping the dragonhead, Godrick can use several new abilities. Although it deals tremendous damage, his flamethrower ability is extremely easy to use. The boss will raise his dragon arm up into the air and begin to emit fire. He should immediately get back down. He’s going to torch the ground below him. If you get hit, not only do you risk death but you’ll also be knocked to the ground and utterly vulnerable to his quick attacks.

Again, Nepheli is the key to winning the fight, and you need to deal as much damage as possible while she’s still alive. If you’re struggling to stack damage on Godrick, level up your weapon at the Roundtable Hold. To level up your character, farm more Runes. And that’s it for this Godrick, The Grafted boss guide.
